NetKernel: Making Network Stack Part of the Virtualized Infrastructure
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents a system called NetKernel that decouples the network stack from guest virtual machine and offers it as an independent module. represents new paradigm where can be managed part of virtualized infrastructure. It provides important efficiency benefits: By gaining control visibility stack, operators perform management more directly flexibly, such multiplexing VMs running different applications to same module save CPU cores, enforcing fair bandwidth sharing. Users also benefit simplified deployment better performance: For example mTCP deployed without API change support nginx natively, shared memory networking readily enabled improve performance colocated VMs. Testbed evaluation using 100G NICs shows preserves scalability both kernel userspace stacks, isolation current architecture.

In this paper, we present a new platform for experimenting with networked systems and distributed applications called Virtualized Application Networking Infrastructure (VANI). This infrastructure is designed as a converged communications and computing infrastructure that would facilitate operation of an open applications marketplace. VANI enables introduction of new network architectures that r...
متن کاملSecure Cloud Computing with a Virtualized Network Infrastructure
Despite the rapid development in the field of cloud computing, security is still one of the major hurdles to cloud computing adoption. Most cloud services (e.g. Amazon EC2) are offered at low cost without much protection to users. At the other end of the spectrum, highly secured cloud services (e.g. Google “government cloud”) are offered at much higher cost by using isolated hardware, facility,...

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...
Revisiting the Storage Stack in Virtualized NAS Environments
Cloud architectures are moving away from a traditional data center design with SAN and NAS attached storage to a more flexible solution based on virtual machines with NAS attached storage. While VM storage based on NAS is ideal to meet the high scale, low cost, and manageability requirements of the cloud, it significantly alters the I/O profile for which NAS storage is designed. In this paper, ...
